You are not worth your art. When I say that, I don’t mean you and/or your art is worthless. I mean that your value is not dictated upon your art—how often you make it, the quality of it, the length of it, etc. The outputs of your efforts do not define your value as a person. You are not worth less because you decide to take a break from creating your art—or if you’re moving at what feels like a snails pace. You are not any less of an “artist” if you choose your well-being and personal kindness over churning out art you might not even be happy with. Your importance does not equate to the things you make. You are a person—not a canvas, or a drawing, or a sculpture, or pages with words on them, or a design, or a character you’re meant to play. You’re you. And there’s only one original version. So take care of you. Art will be always be there for whenever you’re ready to return to it, or whenever you’re prepared to quicken your pace again. You’re worth more than just your art.
